Calculators run in your browser
Every calculator on this site runs entirely in the reader's browser. The numbers entered — position size, price, leverage — are processed locally and are never sent to a server. The desk cannot see what a reader types into a calculator.
This design means there is no database of calculator inputs. The desk does not know if a reader calculated a 0.10-lot gold position or a 10-lot position. The calculation happens on the reader's device and disappears when the page is closed.
What the desk collects
The desk collects only aggregate traffic counts: how many people visited a page on a given day, and which country they came from. This is standard web analytics with no personal identifiers. The desk does not use cookies to track individual readers across the site.
The desk does not collect names, email addresses, or trading activity. If a reader emails the desk, the email address is used only to reply and is not added to a marketing list. The desk does not sell or share any data with third parties.
Storage and third-party cookies
The site uses local storage to hold a reader's own preferences, such as the chosen leverage in a calculator or a dark-mode setting. This data stays in the reader's browser and is never sent to the desk. The reader can clear local storage at any time.
When a reader clicks an affiliate link to a broker such as FxPro, that broker may set its own cookies under its own privacy policy. The desk has no control over those cookies and no access to the data they collect. Readers should read the broker's privacy policy before signing up.
What the site stores and what it does not
The site stores only the minimum needed to run the calculators and remember your preferences, such as which platform you last selected. It does not store your name, email address, or any identifying details unless you contact us directly, and even then we keep only what you provide in that message. No trading account credentials, payment details, or personal financial information are ever stored on this website.
The site does not store the results of any gold position calculation, your IP address, or a history of the pages you visit. If you use the calculators, the numbers you type are processed in your browser and never sent to our servers, so there is nothing to store. We also do not store any information about your broker account or your trading activity.
What the site does store is limited to a small amount of technical data needed for security and basic operation, such as whether you have dismissed a notice. This data is not used to identify you personally and is deleted automatically after a short period. We do not build profiles of visitors or keep records of individual calculator use.
Cookies and what each kind is for
This site uses two kinds of cookies: essential cookies and preference cookies. Essential cookies are required for the site to function, such as remembering that you have accepted the cookie notice or keeping the calculators working during a single visit. These cannot be switched off because the site would not work properly without them.
Preference cookies remember choices you make, such as the platform you selected in a calculator or your preferred display settings. They are not used for advertising and do not track you across other websites. If you block these cookies, the site will still work, but you may have to reset your preferences each time you visit.
The site does not use advertising cookies, social media cookies, or any cookie that builds a profile of your browsing behaviour. We also do not allow third-party cookies from analytics or marketing services. The only cookies present are those set by this site for the limited purposes described above, and they do not contain personal information.
Affiliate tracking stated plainly
When you click a link to a broker such as FxPro, the link may contain an affiliate identifier. This means if you open an account after clicking, the site may receive a commission from the broker. This does not change the price you pay, the spreads you are quoted, or the service you receive from the broker.
Affiliate tracking is done through a simple parameter in the link, not through cookies or other tracking methods. The site does not know whether you opened an account or traded, and it does not receive any personal information about you from the broker. The broker may set its own cookies, which are governed by the broker's privacy policy, not this one.
The site's content is independent, and affiliate relationships do not influence the information provided. The calculators and educational material are the same whether or not you use an affiliate link. We disclose this plainly because we believe you should know when a link might earn us a commission.
Third parties involved
The only third party directly involved when you use this site is the broker you choose to visit, such as FxPro UK Limited. When you click a link to FxPro, you leave this site and are subject to FxPro's own privacy policy and terms. This site does not share any data with FxPro before you click.
The site is hosted by a third-party hosting provider, which may log technical data such as your IP address for security and performance monitoring. This data is not used by the hosting provider for advertising and is not combined with other information about you. The hosting provider is bound by contract to keep this data secure and delete it after a short period.
No other third parties, such as analytics companies, advertising networks, or data brokers, are involved in this site. We do not use Google Analytics or similar services, and we do not embed social media widgets or external fonts that could track you. Your activity on this site is not shared with anyone except as described here.
The rights a reader has and how to use them
You have the right to know what personal data this site holds about you, which is likely to be nothing beyond what you have sent us by email. You can ask us to confirm whether we hold any data about you, and if so, to provide a copy. You also have the right to ask us to correct any inaccurate data or to delete it entirely.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the email address provided on the site. We will respond within 30 days, as required by Australian privacy law, and we will not charge a fee for these requests. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
Because this site does not require an account or collect personal information, most rights will be straightforward to honour. We will delete any email correspondence you have sent us upon request, and we do not use your data for any purpose that would prevent deletion. You also have the right to object to any processing, though we do not process personal data beyond responding to your enquiries.
How long anything is kept and what deletes it
Any email you send us is kept only as long as needed to respond to your enquiry, and then it is deleted within six months. If you ask us to delete it sooner, we will do so immediately. Technical logs from the hosting provider are retained for a maximum of 30 days for security purposes and then automatically deleted.
Cookies set by this site have a short lifespan. Essential cookies are deleted when you close your browser, and preference cookies are deleted after 12 months unless you clear them earlier. You can delete cookies at any time through your browser settings, and doing so will not affect the site's core functionality.
No data is kept indefinitely. If you have never contacted us, the only data that exists is the technical log from your visit, which is deleted after 30 days. There is no archival of calculator inputs or results, and no backup of personal data is stored beyond the retention periods stated here.
What the calculators do with the numbers typed into them
The gold position calculator runs entirely in your browser. The numbers you type, such as position size in lots or account currency, are processed locally using JavaScript and are never sent to any server. The calculation of margin, pip value, and potential profit or loss happens on your device, not on our website's server.
Because the calculator does not transmit your inputs, there is no record of what you typed. We do not see the numbers, we do not store them, and we do not use them for any purpose. If you refresh the page or close the tab, the inputs are gone. The calculator does not save your last calculation unless you manually bookmark the result.
The calculator may use a default reference price for gold, such as A$4275.0 per ounce, but this is a static value used for illustration. It does not reflect live market prices and is not personalised to your account. No data from the calculator is used to adjust the site content or to target you with advertising.
What leaves the browser when a broker link is followed
When you click a link to FxPro, your browser sends a request to FxPro's website. This request includes standard technical information such as your IP address, the type of browser you are using, and the page you came from. This is true for any link you click on any website and is not unique to this site.
If the link contains an affiliate identifier, that identifier is sent to FxPro as part of the URL. FxPro may use this to attribute your visit to this site, but it does not receive any other information about you from us. We do not send your name, email, or any calculator inputs to FxPro.
Once you are on FxPro's website, FxPro may set its own cookies and collect data according to its own privacy policy. This site has no control over that data collection. We recommend you review FxPro's privacy policy before providing any personal information, especially since FxPro is not licensed by ASIC and Australian residents deal with an offshore entity.
Analytics and what is deliberately not measured
This site does not use any third-party analytics service such as Google Analytics or Matomo. We do not track which pages you visit, how long you stay, or where you click. The only technical data collected is the server log from the hosting provider, which shows that a page was requested, but it is not used to analyse individual behaviour.
We deliberately do not measure whether you use the calculators, which platform you select, or which broker link you click. We do not use heatmaps, session recording, or any tool that would show us your mouse movements or keystrokes. The site is designed to be useful without needing to know who you are or what you do.
The only aggregate statistic we might look at is the total number of page views per month, which the hosting provider reports. This tells us how many people visited the site in total, but it does not identify anyone. We do not use this data to create user profiles or to make decisions about content.
Children and this site
This site is not directed at children under the age of 18. Trading gold and other CFDs is a high-risk activity suitable only for adults, and the content is written for an adult audience in Australia. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children, and we do not provide services to minors.
If you are under 18, you should not use this site or open a trading account with any broker. The calculators and educational material are not intended for you, and any use of the site is at your own risk. We do not have a mechanism to verify age because we do not collect personal information.
If we become aware that a child has provided personal information to us, such as by sending an email, we will delete that information immediately. Parents or guardians who believe their child has contacted us can request deletion using the contact email on this site. We will comply promptly.
How a change to this policy is announced
If this privacy policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with the date of the last update clearly shown at the top. We will not send individual notifications because we do not collect your contact details. It is your responsibility to check this page occasionally for changes.
Changes will only be made for legitimate reasons, such as a change in the law, a change in how the site operates, or a change in the third parties we use. We will not make changes that reduce your privacy rights without clearly explaining why. Any change will take effect immediately upon posting, unless stated otherwise.
If a change is significant, such as adding a new third-party service or starting to collect personal information, we will make that change prominent on the site, for example with a notice on the homepage. We will not bury important changes in legal jargon. The date of the current policy is always visible on this page.
